A skirted tub is a type of bathtub with a built-in apron or skirt. While an alcove or whirlpool tub’s front apron or skirt conceals plumbing and wiring, a freestanding tub’s skirt is mainly decorative.

A skirt can be added to the front of a freestanding tub and may feature embellishments such as rivets or decorative rings. Additionally, some soaker tubs (including certain freestanding and drop-in models) feature a full-length skirt that wraps around the entire tub, which creates a seamless, finished look.
